Schottky Diode Component Data
Schottky diodes are used both for small signal and high current applications: find out the key datasheet parameters and specifications for all types including silicon, SiC, power and small signal.
Schottky diodes have several key characteristics that make them ideal for both high current and small signal applications.
The silicon Schottky diodes offer a low forward voltage: their turn on voltage is around 0.2 to 0.3V against the standard silicon diodes where the turn on voltage is around 0.6 to 0.7V.
In addition to this, they have a fast recovery time and low diode capacitance, making them ideal for fast switching and RF circuits.
The drawback of the silicon diodes is that they have a low maximum reverse current, often around 100V, but silicon carbide, SiC Schottky diodes can have reverse breakdown levels in excess of 1kV.
