Xilinx
Xilinx is the inventor of the field programmable gate array and specialises in areas of highly-flexible programmable silicon.
Xilinx was founded in 1984 and has its headquarters in San Jose California, USA. The company is famous for inventing the field programmable gate array, FPGA and pioneering the way in programmable logic.
As the inventor of the FPGA, Xilinx specialises in a variety of areas associated with this type of technology.
The company naturally has an extensive line of FPGAs and in addition to this it also supplies programmable SoCs, and now it has introduced a technology it calls ACAP.
The company states that its highly-flexible programmable silicon, enabled by a suite of advanced software and tools, drives rapid innovation across a wide span of industries and technologies - from consumer to cars to the cloud. Xilinx delivers the most dynamic processing technology in the industry, enabling rapid innovation with its adaptable, intelligent computing.
Xilinx FPGAs are used throughout the electronics industry providing flexible, programmable logic for use in applications from development where programmability is required through to other areas where adaptability means that programmable logic is needed. Developing on this technology further with ACAP means that they have been able to move into the future with new and exciting advances.
